Arthur's pass

We traveled from east to west side of South Island yesterday. Only road thru the mountains is Arthur's Pass. Beautiful winding road. Top photo is on the way. Punchbowl falls was one of three hikes we did. Then we made it to west coast and saw the pancake rocks. Water looked rough and cold. Weather has been clear, but next few days rain and sleet. Winter in NZ!

Christchurch NZ

In Christchurch, New Zealand.  Great to see my daughter Mary!  She took us around the town that suffered devastating earthquakes in 2010 and 2011. There are entire blocks that are boarded up as buildings unsafe. Headed to Arthur Pass tomorrow after a long nights sleep. 22 hours of travel. Felt like we were on the amazing race!

At ohare starting our "amazing race".  Long trip ahead but we can't wait to see our Mary!

I think we have everything! Trying to pack for all kinds of weather. Winter in New Zealand!

Getting Ready

Starting to pack.  Trying to plan a winter trip to finally see my daughter after almost five months.
